About SJSF
We fund research, studies and cultural exchange, with nearly 10,000 grants and scholarships awarded since 1986.
What we fund
Regular Grants
Research, studies and cultural exchange between the Nordic countries and Japan. Open to individuals, enterprises, institutions, and organisations promoting research, development, education, and training mainly within the fields of medicine, humanities, social and natural sciences, and technology.
PhD Research Grants
The PhD Research Grants support PhD candidates enrolled at institutions or universities in the five Nordic countries who need to conduct research activities in Japan for their dissertation.

Japanese Studies is a project aiming to strengthen universities and institutions in the Nordic countries offering Contemporary Japanese Studies.
